Welcome to Bob's railway related pages
I confess that as a boy I used to like watching and travelling on trains, since I was born and lived between the GWR and LMS lines in Wolverhampton.
Timetable of Steam trains on Main line
Railway Map showing where I was born.
I have retained this interest and still enjoy watching railways and Photographing steam engines.
Here's the Duchess of Sutherland unexpectedly seen pulling a special train in Northampton on July 9th 2004 and new steam loco "Tornado" in torbay in 2009:-

Now I have moved to South Devon I will be visiting some of the local railways including Dartmouth Steam Railway (Paignton to Kingswear) and South Devon Railway (Totnes to Buckfastleigh)
I have now also decided to start constructing a model railway in my house in Devon.
Details of how I get on with this model will be published in my Blog at Bob's Model railway Blog
Here I am driving a steam engine in 1998 from Loughboro to Leicester on the Great Central Railway as a birthday treat. This is GWR loco "Witherslack Hall" and a better picture of the Loco (without me!) is at the end of this link
When I lived in Wolverhampton I also liked to visit the nearby Severn Valley Railway at Bridgnorth. If you are interested in Steam railways there are lots of links from their site.
In Northampton the nearest steam railway line is the Northampton & Lamport Railway
Other favourite destinations of mine include Llangollen
railway
If you visit Llangollen Railway can I suggest you take your car to the Station at Carrog where the parking is free and catch the first train of the day back into Llangollen, where there is plenty to see and do before you catch the last train back to Carrog. An extension of this line to Corwen may well have been completed by now.
and the Nene Valley Railway parking at the river meadows in Peterborough where you can then walk through parkland near the track for quite a distance with good photo opportunities.
Some of my videos of trains can be found on my Youtube channel Click here to visit
and on facebook at Facebook Steam pics and on Flickr at Flickr
and in a book which can be purchased from a company called Blurb:-
